At the first glance 2019, BMW X5 looks like the same model as it was in 2018 but it is not the same one, it is the new marque which can be called a new SAV or sports activity vehicle. It is far better than an SUV on all aspects of power, comfort, technology gadgets and other features. The new model gets tow new engine options in the lineup as well. A bigger and bolder grille is even impressive on the 2019 X5 model.

The new model is more powerful, more appealing in terms of modern gadgets and technologies, offers robust BMW X5 engines and precise X driving experience and it well explains the X Design language of the German automaker. At the launch, it was a BMW passenger hauler with five seats and a third row was introduced soon after the launch of the X5, but now it is more than a people hauler.

BMW X5 engines

The all-new X5 SAV comes in two variant where an X5 xDrive 40i and X5 xDrive 50i are on the top. Both of these trims share the same platform with a longer wheelbase of 117.1 inches. The BMW X5 xDrive 50i is packed with a 4.4-litre BMW X5 engine. it is a V8 unit capable of cranking 456hp of power and a hefty torque of 479 lb-ft. in the previous version of the same power unit, this engine was cranking 445hp and a torque of 480lb-ft. the new engine is more refined and powerful than the previous engines and it claims a zero to 62 miles per hour sprint time of under 5 seconds. Precisely said, it makes 62 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds which is far better than many luxury cars in the UK. Top speed is also exclusively the best at 155 miles per hour.

On the other hand, BMW X5 xDrive 40i is powered by a 3.0-litre engine, a turbocharged straight six unit capable of producing a power grunt of 335hp and a torque of 330lb-ft. this particular model replaces the previous models which were using the 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines. These engines were capable of generating just over 300hp and a torque of 332 lb-ft which was actually better than this engine. BMW has claimed that this engine will zip the 60 miles per hour speed in just 5.2 seconds and has a top speed of 130 miles per hour which is an electronically controlled speed.

Transmission in BMW X5

Both engines are excellent drivers for the X5 models and both of them are mated to the BMW’s best eight-speed automatic transmission. The xDrive technology has been offered as a standard feature on both models as their nameplates have mentioned. BMW X5 transmissions have an electronically controlled rear differential which locks and unlocks automatically for an improved performance. A standard dynamic damper control system with two performance settings makes the model even better to drive.
